Causes We Support

Our Community Is Only As Good As We Make It

Blue Northern Builders, Inc. has a few causes that we hold near and dear to our hearts.  Even as the economy has slowed, we have made every effort to remain steadfast contributors to these causes.  We would like to share a couple of these causes with you.

Smiles for Kids

This is a wonderful program that promotes oral health to Sacramento area underprivileged children.  http://www.sdds.org/SmilesforKids.htm

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the #1 fatal genetic disease for children in America. People with CF have a mutated gene that causes their cells to be unable to properly allow salt to pass in and out. The lungs are typically the most affected organ in the body of a CF carrier. Mucus in the lungs is usually thin and slippery, which allows the cilia to gently sweep it out. In a person with CF, the mucus is thick and sticky. This clogs the tubes of the lungs and acts as a breeding ground for infection, which usually results in lung damage. Most people with CF eventually die of lung disease. To help keep their lungs clear, people with Cystic Fibrosis need to do chest therapy at least twice a day for their entire lives.

This cause is very important to us because our very own Faith Davis has this disease. She was diagnosed at birth and has been fighting ever since. Faith is now six years old. She is very active. She loves fairies, anything that sparkles, playing Mario Brothers games on her Wii, and enjoys being outside playing, painting, helping out, and running around with her little sister, Brooke. The only thing that slows Faith down is her battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

According to the CF Foundation's National registry, only one half of all individuals with CF will live to the age of 37. Faith fights everyday to stay healthy. She never gets a break from this disease. We don't know what the future holds for Faith because this disease progresses differently in every body. We proudly support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation so that one day, hopefully soon, CF will no longer stand for "Cystic Fibrosis"… it will stand for "Cure Found" and Faith, and thousands like her, will get to enjoy long, healthy lives. http://www.cff.org/Chapters/sacramento/
